Eerik Heldna leaves NOVE to focus on projects supporting Ukraine as Expert at the Estonian Centre of Eastern Partnership

Today Eerik Heldna, Legal Counsel at NOVE, will start working full-time on projects aimed at tackling corruption in Ukraine and will therefore finish his activities at NOVE Law Office.

At NOVE Mr Heldna was responsible for the area of corporate internal investigations, maintenance of confidential information and risk management. The activities in this area will be continued by his former colleagues and the contact person will be NOVE’s co-founder and Partner Veikko Puolakainen.

Commenting on the change, Mr Heldna explained: “Recently I have been actively involved in Ukraine-related issues through the Estonian Centre of Eastern Partnership, managing a training project under the EU Anti-Corruption Initiative (EUACI), the aim of which is to provide training in various specific areas to the officials of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU). One cannot dedicate oneself to two things at the same time, however, and I cannot and do not want to do things superficially. Therefore I have decided to dedicate myself full-time to the issues of Ukraine starting from 16 April 2018. It is my big dream to be able to help Ukraine achieve the same level as Estonia in their anti-corruption work.”

NOVE thanks Mr Heldna for the work that he has done. “Eerik has made a significant contribution to the development of NOVE and we would like to thank him for launching the area of internal investigations, maintenance of confidential information and risk management. He has laid a solid foundation so that his colleagues can continue to develop the area further. There are not many people in the world who would have similar experience to Mr Heldna and I think that it will be indeed optimal to use his competence in the fight against corruption in Ukraine. We therefore understand Eerik’s decision and wish him every success with his new challenges,” commented NOVE’s Partner Urmas Volens on Mr Heldna’s decision to leave.
